As Fiona so correctly says, follow the written test, the diagrams are included as a guide to the movement to help with your accuracy, not the pace. Movements 5/6 the working trot starts at R - movements 8/9 working trot starts at S. Please also note movement 6- X Halt. The halt in this test is with the first (4 wheelers = front) axle on X. This is due to the fact there is not enough room between E & X for tandem or team, also some of the bigger horses to get straight. To help obtain better marks please remember the arena is oblong not oval, so many competitors get poor accuracy marks for failing to use the corners of the arena. I hope this clarifies and not confuses this Test movements and requirements. Enjoy the winter Indoor season. Rita |

As a general rule, when asked, I always say you should follow the written test sheet and not the diagrams (or text underneath), indoors or out (I hope you agree, Rita?). The diagrams are there as a guide only (we strive for perfection, etc.) I shall ask Mike to change the text, however - and I'm sorry for any confusion caused. |

It is confusing. I have did the test last month for the first time and followed the diagram as the original written test also states the same as the diagram shows. I assumed it was just a typo. On our score sheets we got good marks and nothing written in the comments about not performing the movement correctly. Although I do agree that clarification would be nice. I hope this helps but what ever route you decide just enjoy it! Have a good one. Regards Sue Dicketts |

Can i please confirm where in movement 5 and 8,collected trot ends after the circle and working trot begins? On the written test it shows that colection carrys onto R/S and it shows it on the diagram aswell in the limegreen colour but then below the diagram it says Working trot B-R/E-S. Could someone please confirm which it is? As dont want to go wrong in the test :-). Many Thanks Adam Wyllie |
