I put a post on about standards of driving being important when looking at a trainer. I should state I am a male and not called emily I am a friend of James and think it is sad that this is being directed at one of the nicest people I know in driving. The bottom line is can an individual deliver what they advertise. The answer here is yes. Look at what James has achieved over recent years both competing and as a trainer. I do not see why "Lesley" is being so pointed towards one individual. Do you have some other adgenda that you are not disclosing here. As I have already said if you wanted to know more about an individual you would ask them. Rowena |

Hello All Just a quick note, I have had a lot of calls and mails asking why am looking for training in Wales. I am Lesley Cox - Driver of the Eriskay Pony Tandem - Not the lady who has moved from Essex. Hope that has stopped any confusion. Hope to see you all at the finals, Lesley

Lesley Why not take 5 minutes to email James and ask him about his qualifications rather than pursue a discussion on the forum for all these weeks? For what it's worth I think James results in HDT single and pair speak for themselves so he's got to be worth a try. |

Emily this sounds like sour grapes, but we would like to know what these training qualifications are and who is the examining body that issues the type of licence your trainer holds. Sorry to be persistant but with all the excellent teaching and training qualifications offered by the BDS it seems strange that no one can answer the question asked in my original message on the 18th March. James is an excellent trainer and driver. You can gain various training qualifications that license you as a trainer. I would recommend that you look at the caliber of driving of the trainer and what other people say about them. If you want training specifically for driving trials look at the the trainer specifically at the standard of driving when they compete. For example James is one of the best at what he does and can give you a lot of help, guidance and training in relation to driving trials and carriage driving in general. Personally I would like to know the person is proficient at driving and has good skills for HDT.

As far as I know the only 'licenced trainers' train race horses! The BDS certainly don't licence anyone! |

James is a brilliant trainer, he is very knowledgable about HDT and is a natural horseman. It's definately worth travelling for the high quality of training |

Lesley, see www.britishdrivingsociety.co.uk and look under Contacts (if you haven't already). Rowena Moyse, LHHI, competes in HDT very successfully. If she's too far away, I suggest you get in touch anyway as she might know of someone good who's nearer to you? She's in Swansea. Tel: 01792 874299 email: info@rowena-moyse.com Website: www.rowena-moyse.com Hope this helps! |

I have recently moved to Merthyr from Essex and am looking of somewhere to get driving lessons. I see there are some LHHI's in the area but also one who describes himself as a "fully licenced trainer" (James Broome, Cricklands). Can anyone tell me what a a licenced trainer is and who licences them. I may be wrong but I think the BDS awards LHHI status........do they do the licencing too? Can anyone advise me where to go fo training Lesley Cox |
