OFFICIAL ANSWER. Please disregard all others. Unless otherwise stated on the Test, it is the nose of the horse/pony on the marker. This is the way it has been for the last 13 years. Therefore Movement 9 of this years P&P test (which is NOT the test used at the last Championships) requires the turnout to halt when the horse/pony or team/tandem leader reaches X. The Halt is 5 seconds. P&P is a test of Paces and Precision (accuracy) so everyone must get the precision right as well as the correct paces. When the nose reaches the marker is when the action must happen - be it change of direction or of pace or both - not before or after the marker. Hopefully this will make it clear to all concerned. | ||

Hi Cathy, You are quite correct it is 5 sec's, I was looking at the wrong test (sorry) We drove this test at the finals and to my memory the halt at 'x' is the driver and the halt at 'g' is the front of the turnout. James | ||

Hi James The test i am looking at definately says 5 second hault at X, Thanks for your your help on where the horse should be, will our tandems be off the outside track in time? as it is across she short diagonal? I have been asked this & said i would get some answers, I have never driven a tandem so felt unable to answer. | ||

Hi Cathy, The halt is for 8 seconds at 'X' with 'X' being any where between the animals front feet and its nose is acceptable. The same at 'G' with no time limit (don't rush the salute). Hope this helps and good luck. James Binns | ||

Can any one tell us at the 5 second hault,what should be on X, Horses nose, Front axle, or Driver. Just so we all know what is expected of us.Thanks |
