Two wheelers are great for indoor events but are being phased out of outdoor events because they are too easy to turn over with the different terrains on the Marathon.

Could you not buy a second hand 4 wheeled carriage, if you look around you could pick up a bargain, but definately take someone experienced to look at it for you before buying.

My first carraige was a two wheeler and I htought it looked great so bought it for £100...Then late while out driving I noticed that the chassis was bent.

Since that first carraige I have always bough tnew but that meant going without other things such as luxury holidays LOL

Jenny, We broke our pony to harness about a year ago and went through the same concern as you will have. If you buy an inexpensive 'exercise cart' you and the pony will very quickly grow out of it. In addition there is some incredible rubbish around. Difficult to discern the good from the bad without advice - which we did not have! In the end - although it was an expensive option - we went to Bennington's and bought new - only because they did not have used in our size. Sue Mart was exceptionally helpful. Ended up with Intro 2 wheeler which has proved ideal. Depends really on what you want to do. But having gone through the trouble of breaking properly we did want something half decent to drive out in and not be embarrased. Mike

Many thanks for the advice. Would like to change up to a four wheeler once I have tried the indoor circuit a few times to make sure both Scottie and ourselves take to it! Thanks for the pointer to Moreton Morrell. When does the season start and end?

Hi there
we are based in Oxford and find the Moreton Morrell events at warwickshire college very easy to get to - so look out for those dates
Good luck

Hi Mike
Yes your turnout sounds fine, many competitors successfully use two wheelers indoors - but they are not so stable as four wheelers indoors or out, so if you wish to become a serious competitor and collect a few pennies think about upgrading your vehicle to a four wheeler.
There are events all over the country during the winter season - some are bound to be within travel distance - keep an eye on the web for next season dates.

Hello, We have been driving for about a year at BDS events. Scottie is our 12HH pony and the carriage is a Bennington Intro 2. Really enjoyed the outings and the shows but looking for something a little more exciting but without initially another huge investment after the horsebox! Is the carriage suitable? What sort of events/classes should we enter. We live in Faringdon, Oxfordshire
