I understand that no decision has been made by the IHDTC to cancel Easton for next season.

Partly the March event was cancelled because it was too late to be a qualifier for the finals. (Please correct me if I am making too many assumptions, Elizabeth!)

It's a fabulous venue but very expensive for the number of entries (so far). It does take a few years to get a new region going, to build up numbers, and the Tyas family have done a great job, creating a friendly atmosphere and encouraging quite a few newcomers, and I have enjoyed the events there.

If we could get some sponsorship for the venue as well as more entries, publicity and interest, perhaps even getting some equipment and running it with locals, it could be viable, I'm sure.

For example, would anyone sponsor rosettes at £50 - £60 per event, or by class?

Let's see if we can make it work next season, if the Terrific Tyas Team would like to keep it going?

Having just secured our first win at Easton a couple of weeks ago, we were really sad to hear that this venue won't be used anymore. It is a lovely venue and the event was well organised. The bonus is also that there is a great warm up area. I would have thought that with a little more time the event may have become as established and as popular as Forest Edge, but perhaps it suffered from being too close to that venue and with people's pockets being stretched as suggested by Eve and Jim

Although I live closer to Forest Edge and will continue to support that event, I feel that Easton had better facilities and the loss of this venue is a great loss to the sport. Thank you to the Tyas family for all their hard work. Graham & Sj Cooper

I think that if we are typical of people who drive then the main reason for the lack of support is financial, we would love to enter more events but what with the cost of fuel + entries + sundries we just cannot afford to compete more than once per month. Add to that the rest of the ponies left at var/www needing looking after and thats the reason we cannot support a new venue. Eve & Jim May

This is a great shame. Thanks to Elizabeth etc who have tried so hard to run some excellent events at a superb venue. Would be interesting to understand the reasons for its lack of success. My wife, daugther & I have always supported it and have not been able to fathom the poor numbers of entries......

Sadly we have cancelled the last event at this venue, 20 March, due to the lack of entries at previous events.

The next scheduled event will take place on 27 February. This is your last chance to compete at this venue.

This was a new Area and venue which just has not had the support it so richly deserves.

From those competitors who competed at Easton and from Dick and myself, grateful thanks to Elizabeth Tyas for trying so very hard to get the Area going.
Rita
