hello Rita

I have been looking at the rules to try and find out if there has been an alteration to the rules re bits for indoor driving trials ....... or rather whether bitless bridles are permited. I can't find it ..... only the FEI international ones.

Some of the bridles now available are not like the german /englsish hackamore that the origional rules may have been designed for.

Can you enlighten us please.

thanks

Thanks for that Rita!

One other question relating to the 'spoked' wheels please! Does this rule also relate to the solid spoke motorbike wheels, as well as the wire spokes (as is the norm on motorbike wheels)?

Thanks

Hi Tara
Sorry bits must be used according to BHDTA rules that we run by - but blinkers need not be worn if the animal is not used to wearing them. Keep an eye on IHDT UK rules as an amendment may be made about bits for indoor events. Pneumatic tyres can be used but not on spoked wheels ( bike wheels) car wheels are ok at this time.
Hope this helps
Rita.

Opps - are pneumatic (sp?) tyres OK or must you have 'carriage' types wheels?

Cheers!!

Hi

Can anyone give me some insight please as to the rules for indoor trials with regards to bits and blinkers - i.e. does your horse have to wear them?

I know of someone who drives her mare (very successfully) in an open Dr Cooks bitless bridle & who might be interested in trying IHDT - but I'm not sure what the rules are regarding this!

Many thanks

t x
