Hi Anne, started out with an old Rice trailer, moved breast bar forward, had a 2 wheel Benny remove 4 bolts to take shafts off and stood carriage on backstep at back of trailer

I started with a 3 horse Richardson. My 14.2 pony went up the front and faced backwards for travelling, something which she preferred and the carriage went up the back ramp and stood on its back end secured to the centre post which supported the partitions. It worked with both a two wheeled bennington backstep and also a hartland topsport, we got the trailer from a dealer in norfolk, who basically made some minor alterations etc and was very helpful, he had done it before, the firm was bearts in norfolk sure if you google them he can help, we had actually gone to buy a expensive frech trailer, but he ended up sorting out a far cheaper alternative, as the changes were done with no cost.

Anne I use an Ifor Williams 510. The carriage is at the front with the one shaft off and the front axle is turned so that one wheel is at the front of the trailer and the other under the drivers seat. I then have a full width breast bar across and my pony a 14.2hh Welsh Cob stands across the rear of the trailer at a slight angle. He travels quite happily this way.
I have tried it the other way with the carriage at the back and horse at the front however I found that this doesnt tow as well. You also need to be careful of front axle/hitch weight. With the horse at the front this will no doubt exceed the max hitch weight which you have to be careful about.

Hi, Anne, I started with a "four pony" Sinclair (I think) trailer and had the pony (14 hands) in the front up the front ramp and the carriage in the back. I had a divider put in and the carriage shafts went over the top, with padding. There was a padded divider at the front between the pony and the grooms' door and I could leave him in there with the ramp down after a drive or at an event so he could see out and he was quite happy. It towed well, too. Not as flash-looking as Pegasus trailers, but effective.
