Hi, Anne - a good point!

I've seen other pony breeds and part-breds competing in the past however, with my organiser's hat on, I don't want to discourage anyone who drives a small pony which isn't a registered Shetland... And it might confuse people who then want to drive outdoors (our club has a small pony class up to 11.2 - which is confusing enough!)

Ho, hum, that's just what I think, anyway.

Regarding small pony height discussion !! why dont they just call it a shetland class as how many other breeds of ponies come under 11hh. Having been to a few shows the small pony classes are just shetlands.

Hello Angela,

... extract from IHDT Rules page.

"Changes for 2009-10

December 2009 4.2 Confirm height for Small Pony 11 hands and under (112cm without shoes, 113 cm with shoes)."

Full rules can be downloded there.

kind regards,

Daniel.

Please could you clarify the size of pony which qualifies as a 'Small Pony' in IHDT competitions?
Thank you so much.
