Hi Suzie Indoor driving is just what you want to do with your mini shet. They really love it. The whole competition is done with one harness and one vehicle, marathon type equipment, nothing posh but must be in a good, clean, safe condition. You can compete in a two wheeler (four wheeler will probably be far too heavy for a mini on indoor arena surface) the vehicle must be 125cm axle width. You do not need to have a 'groom' sitting next to you but you do need to have a experienced person with you in the arena and accompanying you at all times while the pony is in the vehicle. Very few areas have classes for small ponies so be prepared to go in with the big boys, BUT there are small ponies classes at the National Championships at the end of the winter season. A points league is run for each area and providing I know you are a small pony you will be awarded points in that class and so possibly be able to quailify for the Champs. Before competing you will have to show that you are a capable driver, if you belong to a club then you should have been assessed by that club and have documentation to prove it, if not proof of your driven showing (note from a judge/trainer) should be ok. You will need to join IHDT UK to compete Indoors. All info can be found on this website, including the dreaded Rules. The 2011-2012 Yearbook should be issued in August, then all fixtures will be on the web. Enjoy Indoors, your pony will. Rita
