The three loops need to be of equal size starting at C and finishing at A The line you take across the arena needs to be parallel and not diagnol.

If you go too deep into corners you spoil the shape of the loop.

I'm not a judge but surely the first serpentine has to finish at A otherwise only 2 and a half loops have been driven not the 3 loops asked for.

What do others think?

Please could someone (preferable a P & P judge)clarify the serpentines:
The first serpentine is CMEF followed by FAK and the second is AKBHC. Therefore, on completing the first, should I go deeper into the corner between F and A than I should on the second one between H and C?

Cheers,

Chris

Here in the wilds of Norfolk, our experienced precision judge, an Open class National driver herself, decided that three equally-spaced half-circles (of about 16 and two-thirds metres(!)), one at each named letter on the serpentine, with straight tracks across the school (parallel to the short side of the arena) to the next was what she was looking for.
We don't usually have circles of less than 15 metres in the indoor tests, this is not too hard for larger horses and multiples to drive and is nice and simple for Novices. It's probably good to have this discussion before the event so people know what to do! I don't say this is right, just what we did on 2 october. Any other offers?
p.s. Read movement 9 and halt with front wheels on X - most didn't.

Please can someone clarify what the judges will be looking for when judging serpentines, ie 'light bulb' shaped loops, straight across the arena between loops, or diagonally across the arena.

Thanks
