Hand is a good place to be 'plying' your OH with a sample of Indoor driving. There is a lovely warm cafe, which overlooks the school and everyone there will be very welcoming. Have a great day!

Thanks Sue.

I'm really looking forward to it! I'd be happy hanging around watching the preparations, but I've got to keep the OH amused otherwise he won't want to go to the next one ..

And you never know, if I get him interested enough, it might be us competing in a few years time (my girl's only 18 months old!!)

The event will start with Precision and Paces (indoor dressage!), usually at 9 am. Once this phase is completed by every competitor the cones course will be built (very quickly) and walked by all competitors - they are usually given about 20 minutes for this. As soon as this phase is completed the course is dismantled and the two obstacles are built and flagged, which again will take very little time. 20 - 30 minutes is usually allowed for competitors to walk the obstacles and work out the best (ie hopefully quickest) routes, and to learn those routes. Once everyone has driven the first two obstacles they will be re-flagged (the obstacle stays the same but the gates will be changed round), everyone will walk them again to work out their new routes, and they will be driven again.

As a rough guide, P & P and cones take up the morning with the obstacles taking up much of the afternoon, but much depends on the number of competitors.

Hope you have a super day; if you have any queries while you are there just ask anyone - this is not my local area but I can still guarantee that you will be welcomed by friendly people!

Hi,

Sorry, just another quick question - for spectating, what's the best time to arrive? ie, what sort of time do the events usually kick off? (I know I could always give the venue a bell - thought I'd ask you lot first ...)

Thanks.

Sam

There will (hopefully) be no charge for spectating at this or any event - indoor driving is friendly and accessible, and we want to encourage people into the sport whether as participants or spectators.

Have a great time!

Hiya,

I've just been pointed to this website by a friend, and I'd very much like to drag my hubby along to watch. Our nearest venue is "The Hand" in Bristol, I was hoping to take him along next weekend, and I was wondering if anyone knew how much it was to go along and spectate?

Many thanks!
