I like the idea of 4 different obstacles as it makes you think. However I also think that maybe at the end of the season there is an obstacle course similar to that in the states etc. where you have two obstacles and cones to drive through as one element. Nothing too competitive and not included in the points system for the championships just pure fun..

Maybe its a daft idea? Dunno what do you think

So in effect only 2 obstacles would be driven rather than the 4 at the moment? (Start gate + 1A + 1B + finish gate = 1 obstacle) Much easier for the scorer, and less work for the course builders, and less time needed for walking the second obstacle, but a very different competition for the drivers.

By only changing the flags on one element the other one would probably be driven the same both times - in some arenas this would mean the surface being cut up even more than ever which can become a problem, particularly for the smaller ponies who have to work ever harder as the going gets deeper.

With the obstacles keep the two obstacles at each end of the arena but have them marked as 1A and 1B or 1=A to d and 2=E to H with "teams" entering the arena going through the start gate doing obstacle 1A avoiding the start finish gate driving 1B then finising thought the start finish gate. The start finish gate can be an eleimination route should the "team" pass through it to get to the other obstacle.
When the obstacles are redriven the organisers need only change one elements flags which could change how you get to the second element.
