We changed to the "drive the same obstacles twice without re-flagging" format at the last Sparsholt event, we also held the cones in a separate arena which proved very popular with the majority of competitors. Despite having 37 entries we were done and dusted by approx 5pm which was great on a cold winters day. Definately will be running the rest of the season with the new obstacle format. Can thoroughly recommend it!! |

In our first event at Adlington recently on a freezing cold day, we had a slight change from the usual which ran really well. The two obstacles were driven twice without changing the letters by each of the classes. This meant that the day finished at least an hour earlier yet we still had the whole driving experience. Each class was completely finished before the next commenced so ponies were not tacked and untacked constantly. It was well received by everyone present and more people stayed for the prizegiving as we were within reasonable time. I organise three events at Northop in North wales for the North West region and I shall follow this format for my events next year. Drivers still get the same amount of fun, competing against your own time the second time you drive the same obstacle. To make the dressage section go quicker sometimes we take competitors in any order to get them through quicker, it keeps the majority happy but I'm sure everyone does that too. |
