Just for the record I DO use diagrams to learn my tests, the point was sit down and draw it out and it becomes clear, no insult was meant at all apologies to those I may have offended.

Sorry for the delay, the slightly revised test (issue 2) is now on the website or click here.

This version also has a diagram - scroll down to page 2 - please let me know any errors.

Hope to get the online entries open this weekend.

I've just done the same as Caroline and drawn my own diagram. Don't worry if the test looks scary, I have often thought that but once you start practicing it I usually find they drive much better than they look on paper. Good luck and welcome to our brilliant sport.

Don't Panic! :-)
I was a bit flustered when I first read it but we printed out a blank dressage diagram and then drew the test on in different coloured pen for each pace. Once we'd worked through it steadily we realised it's not too bad! (Easy for me as I'm only a backstepper!!) Please don't be put off indoors - it really is a fab sport. Perhaps some local help/instruction/training would help work through it. We will certainly be getting some help too at a training day in our area.

Hi sorry I am another novice driver and an elderly one at that and do agree with Sam. Experienced drivers already have an idea of the movements and therefore can work the test out a lot easier. I however have never driven in an indoor trials comp before and this will be my first season and I do not want to guess and learn the test incorrectly. I must admit this test has nearly put me off giving it a go all together. I know people want to make things challenging but I feel the association is risking putting newcomers Off before they start. I thought that there may have been an easier test for the novices used.

I have tried to draw it with not much sucess as I am not sure on each movement.
Being a novice myself I want to ensure that the course I am doing is correct!
So if us Novices could have a diagram it would be much appreciated.
The experienced drivers such as yourself James dont have to look at the diagram if you do not wish but I think us Novices would like it for our comfort blanket!

Come on people get a pencil and a piece of paper and draw it your selves, you will see it all becomes clear. What did we all do when picture tests were not provided???

You have a wicked sense of humour Rita!!! ;-)) The Test is very good. When you've spent as many hours as I have Calling BD Tests for people, it becomes second nature to read one and see it as a diagram in your head. I'm just relieved there's no Collected Trot!!!!! ;-D

Yipee, someone has worked out the circles, a figure of 8. What about the half circles - think of a tear drop. Really is an easy test, just wait for the Keysoe test................. only kidding

I thought exactly as you do Liz.

Start you circle to the left at X and you need to be 2.5m away from the boards as you head towards C (so your circle heads up the arena rather than across).

The circles would work if you go up and down the arena not across it.

did you compete last winter Liz? We had a 15m circle at C - look back under General Chat, Mike Watts post on 1st Septemeber 2011 with the test & diagram, no 7 on the diagram.

I too am totally confused by no. 2.

If at x we circle left 15m, the arena is 20m wide and at x we are exactly in the middle of it so to my mind a 15m circle would take us out of the arena and into the canteen?

Please, please put me out of my misery and supply a diagram. No doubt I'll laugh my socks off once it's all been explained and I realise what a numpty I am.

With regards the South East area, please may I clarify whether the class qualifications will be split between the 'Saturday' events and the 'Sunday' events as we were told by Dick at the SE Points Dinner? Because having added up the events, there are 6 saturdays and only 3 sundays, so I presume it will run as last year rather than be split then? Or will it be split by venue?

Our thanks to all who have written to us with regard to the Finals at Keysoe. We are very pleased that you enjoyed the weekend. It was good to see so many smiling faces and the classes well filled in the main.

Due to the continuing increases of prices, from food to fuel- printing to postage, it has been decided that ALL information will be posted on this website. NO information will go by post as of now, UNLESS, the office (rita@ihdt.co.uk) is notified that paper copy is required. We are aiming to keep costs down for everyone.

We hope you have a super summer and look forward to seeing you all next winter season.
