Thank you Frances, Ian was a great help and confirmed my thoughts about the fitting. New design is to accommodate use of quick release tugs if wished, and I will need to carefully enlarge the holes in the plastic. Sorted! Many Thanks Ian.

Hi
They have altered the length of the backband. If you like give Ian Collings of Jack in a Box a ring on 01424 756021 and he can talk through your problem with you.

Thanks Rita :-) I do have enough experience to know if a harness fits and would not use an ill fitting harness :-) I am just confused by the design of this. The only way it can work is to fasten the tugs into a loop, attach to the back band by the buckle, leaving a short end of backband tucked in the keeper, and use the long end of the tug to attach to the belly band. This would work fine but the holes I would need to use on the tug straps are too small in the plastic backing, although they are big enough on the webbing side. I can't really believe that I should need to enlarge holes on a new harness (although I could easily do this to fix the problem)and it's that fact which has made me wonder if I am misunderstanding something. I have long had pony and shetland size Tedex and the tugs are not like these. The sliding back band is longer and goes over the tugs through the tug buckle to fasten to the belly band.

It is difficult to explain without pictures :-)

If you are sure you have fitted it correctly and it still does not fit, either get someone to double check it for you, or send it back to be resized.

An ill fitting harness will cause all sorts of problems and just not worth all the pain and trouble for you and your pony.

Has anyone purchashed a new Tedex harness recently? I purchased a cob size. The sliding back band is quite short and the tugs are very long. The tugs have plastic linings in part and I presume the false belly band attached to the ends of the tug straps rather than the ends of the back band because it isn't long enough to go around the pony any other way - she is only just cob size at 13.1hh. However, the holes in the plastic backing are too small for the tug buckle tongues so that makes me think I'm getting things wrong, but if these holes are not to be used the shaft loop is too enormous and the belly band is too short. I feel I must have it right but it seems strange that the holes are too small on a new harness. The corresponding holes in the webbing on the other side of the plastic lined parts are of correct size. I can't force the buckle tongue through, so would have to resort to a hot implement to remedy this - seems odd to me. Maybe I am being dozy and missing something obvious?
Any useful comments anyone?
