Here's a description that's been emailed to me:

"Horse Driving Trials - Your Say, Your Future.

Following on from its very successful AGM and Conference, the British Horse Driving Trials Association (BHDTA) is promoting a listening and problem solving exercise to begin this week. Full details are on our website, but here is an overview to give you a flavor of what’s involved.

The listening part starts with an invitation to all the membership to do a S.W.O.T. analysis. The sport’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats - those things that can take the sport forward or are holding it back. All of the affiliated driving clubs together with other people who drive, are involved in the sport, or are interested in its future, will also have the opportunity to take part. All input is confidential. The results will be made available early in 2013.

Knowing what people think are the Strengths, Weaknesses, etc of our sport is the first step. The next is to develop solutions to the issues raised – the problem solving part. On the 26th January 2013, a workshop meeting involving a cross section of the driving community will take place. The biggest issues raised by the SWOT will be discussed and plans to resolve them will be developed. By the end of February, a report will be presented to BHDTA Council setting out the recommended actions. The report will also contain a strategy on how to implement the actions effectively and within budget.

This is the opportunity for all equestrians to have their say in the future of the sport of Carriage Driving. It couldn’t be simpler – just go to www.horsedrivingtrials.co.uk and click on the SWOT link. You can fill in the on-line form, or you can download it and print it out. The closing date is 15th December.

We hope you will be able to help."
