Sounds like you have unanimous support Jenni, any chance you would re-consider and run Northrop after all, your stalwart competitors and fellow organisers definately support you. What a shame one event soured you from wanting to continue to run Northrop. I agree any bad behaviour should be disciplined and other clubs made aware, hopefully this was a one off anyway. All the best.

As current and previous organisers of the other NW Indoor events we would like to point out that we have always enjoyed the support and commitment of the IHDT members in our area. The difficulty of running a club class alongside the others, occasionally attracts drivers who do not know or understand the rules by which our sport is governed and the expected standard of behaviour. What a shame that this incident should spoil the pleasure of many - members and newcomers alike.

Hey, the North West is a brilliant region!! This is my second year of IDHT and it has been terrific fun and a great learning curve, not least because all the driving people are so friendly, helpful and supportive. The team spirit and camaraderie here is second to none and people are usually tripping over each other, helping with the events, be it IDHT or any other. The last fateful Northop event, which I was at, was MOST DEFINITELY the exception and far, far removed from the norm. The appalling behaviour and language of one competitor was inexcusable and should not be tolerated. I don’t believe she was a member of IDHT. I think she was entered in the Club class running on the same day, but if she is a member then she should be disciplined to the maximum, ie expelled from the organisation, and other driving clubs should be made aware. How many of the non-arrivals were in the IDHT and how many were in the Club class, I don’t know but I think with one or two of these there may have been a communication problem over whether or not they had actually entered. Nobody should be spoken to the way Jenni was and we all expressed our unanimous support for her and our appreciation of her hard work.

What a shame that Jenni felt she had to give up Northop, sounds as if you had a super venue, we would jump through rings to have a venue like that in the Southern Region, as we are just about to lose Sparsholt College. Shame a few competitors have given Jenni a bad taste, but I have to say we have always had helpful competitors in the Wessex region, I really couldnt have asked for better!! Thanks for all you help anyway Jenni, hope you will still be around? Bev Huntington

Jenni, like Sue, I'm very sorry to hear you've been treated like this. My group of about 30 great competitors, hard-working, loyal helpers and supporters and a few newcomers are enjoying our fifth season in East Anglia. We've seen our standards of driving improve: we did well at the Finals in 2005 and five of our juniors represented England at Escrick last October. I know it's sometimes tough and lonely being the organiser - perhaps the undeserving of your group might realise what they did to kill off your enthusiasm and what potential they have lost - they might just reform, if they have any sense. They are the ones who lose the most.
Don't think you've failed! They failed you, and it's a shame you didn't get the support you needed to keep the daft, mean and rude minority under control. Well done for trying!

Hi Jenni. I was so sorry that you have decided to throw in the towel but I do sympathise with you. From my own experience I would expect that the people who didn't bother to turn up are the same people who never, ever offer to help. The competitor who abused you just makes me feel ashamed to be a part of the same sport.
It's a pity that this great sounding venue has been lost to indoor driving and that your hard work has come to nothing. I am, however, sure that there were people who got a large amount of enjoyment from the events and who will miss attending them, even if only to spectate.

as you can see from the main var/www page announcement Northop as a venue is no more. I really tried to establish this fantatic venue as a site for indoor events. The massive outdoor school and excellent indoor school with new gallery couldn't attract enough competitors although it seemed to attract an interested crowd at each event. The tin lid went down when people (x6) failed to show (just because it rained!)didn't have the courtesy to let me know and then one lady gave me verbal abuse when asked to stop driving unsafely. f....cow I was called.
Thanks to everyone who has shown up but that has made wonder why I have bothered...someone else can do the graft in future. Good luck to you all in the final and in the future.
