For any riders who may be confused - ridden dressage requires movements which are to be executed at markers to be when the RIDER is at the marker |

As in ALL dressage test - driven or ridden it is ALWAYS the nose that should be on the marker - unless specifically stated otherwise |

The movement is as I have stated in my previous posting, this has been changed TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR YOU as a few of you found it almost impossible to drive the movement - so you drive diagonally across X. I hope this is now clear and you will now get on with perfecting your test, and that includes using the corners of the arena. The arena is NOT OVAL - you have been WARNED!! A lot of marks can be made from being accurate - work on it - this will also help you when you go to the great outdoors. |

If you read the notes they say you drive 4 strides straight across X. It does not say that you should be driving along the line EXB, therefore to me this means you can cross X heading any direction you wish provided you travel straight, presumable 2 strides each side of X. I suspect this was the intention. To me the issue is that from a geometric prospective it also states each loop is an elongated half circle, i.e. 180 degrees, which would clearly not be achieved unless you do drive EXB. Technically, I believe this is the statement that causes the confusion. Neil

Ok then the notes are misleading because it says 4 strides should be driven straight across x before the commencement of the next loop. I don't take that to mean diagonally and neither have many others. So can you take out the word straight? |

OK here is the answer: Goldie has got it correct. Drive diagonally across X - two strides before and 2 strides after the centre of X. Unless my memory serves me wrong (which it often does these days!) The outer wheel denotes a circle size. Rita |

On re-reading the Notes on P&P Tests for the two loops, it does not actually say the 4 strides should be across X between B and E, so presumably they should be diagonally across X. This will then give the elongated half circle. Would appreciate clarification that it is the outside wheels of the carriage which determines the size of the movement, i.e. 5m from centre line and 15m circles. Thank you. |

Several of us tried the test at Forest Edge last week and none of us made four strides and as you say trying to get four strides makes the loops the wrong shape. Think we will have to speak to IHDT powers that be cos in my opinion it's not possible to do it in the length and width of arena we have What do others think? |

For the 2 loop serpentine, 4 straight strides across x seem to make 1 or other of the loops skewed, is there a special way of doing it? Can you do the strides diagonally? Help please! |
