I think it is great that Fiona and Dawn are writing about the Indoor Points League. If area organisers want to run their own Points League that is great, especially if refered to the Official National Points League co-ordinator, Phil Nadin, who would be grateful for all results to assist in his official IHDT Points League table. When and if Phil finds he can no longer compile the Official National Points League then the IHDT UK will ask for volunteers to under take the co-ordination of the League, but until that time all results must be sent to Phil@Equifor.com

Hi Fiona
Yes running up score sheets a the end of an event is not a relaxing task and you have to hide from competitors otherwise they are constantly askign for their results which means each time you get held up. The thing is we can't always get results up quickly as we either haven't received them or there is a dispute. I've been on both sides LOL

I would gladly help out with the indoor points league. As you know I am registered disabled with my lung disease so can't work, but that means I have plenty of time to devote to helping run and publish the points league.

Just tell me what I would need to do to get the ball rolling for the 2006 /07 season.

I am good at chasing people up for results LOL

Cheers Fiona

Dawn, I agree that the regional points leagues are important. We need a transparent and objective way of choosing who goes to the Finals, speaking as a competitor and as an organiser.

As a competitor I want the events to be efficiently run and for the rules and scoring system to be understood, published and applied fairly. As an organiser, the same applies because I want happy competitors who will come back next time: bigger classes mean better competition and more fun all round.

I think you are familiar with doing scoring for events so you know it's a lot of work getting everything right at the end of a long day. Organisers are volunteers, human and therefore fallible. Strangely, I don't need a stick to fend off people clamouring to work out the points leagues for our region. It'd be great to have someone else to work out the points after each event and to discuss their results with me before publishing them. It ain't rocket science.

It's part of the efficient running of an event to publish the results as quickly and accurately as possible but it's tempting to leave the points leagues until you absolutely have to do them. Points leagues suddenly become important at about the second-last event in the region, especially when there are evenly matched competitors who all want to go to the Finals. If the organiser has not published all the event results then it's hard for anyone to work out the points correctly, of course. Late events can also cause problems as IHDTC likes to send out invitations to the Finals about three weeks before it, not unreasonably.

I know Phil Nadin of Equifor.com has kindly calculated the points leagues for all regions - I've tried to help by sending him my own calculations regularly. I am fallible (just occasionally...) and am happy to ask others to check my calculations which are published at each event and to accept their feedback and improve how we do things. One of my competitors checked them and we agreed what they should be this season.

Why don't you have a word with your event organiser and offer to calculate the points leagues for him/her during the next season? It's a simple small thing that's removing a straw from the organiser's back: anyone numerate could do it. You could even do it for all regions and submit the results to Phil for publication on Equifor, perhaps? It wouldn't take long, done regularly, and it'd be a great help to everyone! You could take on the chasing or even the input of results, too, perhaps? All you need is a copy of the final results for each event and the website results page password and your organiser's blessing.

"And so, my fellow competitors, ask not what your organiser can do for you; ask what you can do for your organiser." (Apologies to JFK.)

Just a thought!

Forgot to add...as it is the organisers responsibility, then should they not be chased up if not doing their bit? In account for the results missing from Morton Morrell

Just a thought...

Hi Mike Yep Dawn/Demson same person, same little old me LOL

Anyay I have a response to this topic..here goes..

If an organistion holds events leading to a Championships based on a points system then it should be ensured that ALL points are accounted for. For some people like myself who do not compete to qualify for the Championships via the points system it doesn't matter what happens but many others do care. It costs bewtween £27.50 and £35 to compete and people do spend time any money hoping to get to Keysoe...So for some points not to be accounted for thus people not qualifying is in my view and I imagine many others a poorly organised system.

The points system was divised by someone/someones, so it is they who are responsible for ensuring all points are accounted for. If I did compete to gain the points and I missed out on the Championships because its no ones responsibilty then I woud stop wasting my time and money with competing as I would feel I was treated unjust.

IMO I feel this is something that should be re-addressed for next year..Someone needs to take responsibilty to ensure the people at the Championships are the ones that should be there based on all points added for all events.

Please note: it is the responsibility of the organisers of each event to ensure the results are posted on the site, either by entering the results themselves or at least sent to the office for them to be put on. If this is not done then your valuable points are not recorded. It has been a total headache sorting out qualifiers due to lack of results and therefore points on the league table.
Phil Nadin of Equifor has done a great job in compling the points league for many years but without results.........
Hope every one has enjoyed the season, have a great suer, see you all again in October for the start of next season.

Dawn, (Demson!)
Regarding fixing any errors in the points league, they may be calculated by your local organiser or by Phil Nadin at Equifor, info@equifor.com. We calculate ours here in East Anglia, and try to sort out any issues, so it may be best to contact your local organisers first. I agree, we ought to get them correct. Sorry, didn't know demson was you ...

I always wondered where the points league was too - thanks!
We were placed in the Moreton Morrell event, as mentioned before, but those results have not been put on the points league list.
We also were placed at Northop 15th January, but those results do not seem to appear anywhere.

As we only entered 3 events in 3 different areas this will have no effect at all on the league but I am with Dawn - its the principle!

Many thanks to the team & organisers for showing us the way in our 1st attempt at Indoor.

Thanks for that....Just looked and they seem to have missed my 10 points for coming 1st at Morton Morrell.:-( the event was in Dec but is listed as 17th Jan in the results...So I should have 18 points not 8...
By the way my name is Dawn Emmerson

Can this be fixed? Rather a matter of principles.

Think I have asked this before but no one replied so trying again. I know there is a points league for INDOOR driving but how do you get to see the results.
