Hi Sara - I meant to reply shortly after you posted this, but couldn't find my password... :-)

After reading your post, I went back to check our area's points league, & discovered that the final competition on 22nd March has indeed disappeared - there's been a column for it ever since the table appeared, so I was also expecting that competition to be a qualifier. A couple of other regions do still have columns for upcoming competitions, hard to tell whether those will count. We don't seem to have an Open Pony qualified from South - I'm guessing that the top people have been offered a choice in the class they enter (ie - either Open or Small).

David - I agree that clearer information, particularly with regards to qualifying, would be great, poor Rita has had several emails from me!

That's tough, Sara. I can imagine that you're very disappointed. To answer your question directly, no I wasn't aware that there is a cut-off of 9th March.

In our first season last year we had 5 qualifying events and one training event so we naturally thought that it would be the same this season. However, we thought we would check and found out that all 6 are qualifying events. So I guess it's down to the individual organiser as to how many events are qualifiers.

Perhaps the number of qualifying events for each area could be fixed and publicised at the beginning of the season so everybody knows where they are ?

Given the increasing numbers of competitors, especially those new to the game, perhaps a greater level of information is needed generally - on the website or some amended rules, so that everyone can access that information easily ? I'm sure that there are many FAQs that would merit publication, rather than having to trouble the good folk at the IHDT office every time.

David

Am I the only numpty who didn't realise that events after the 9th March don't count towards qualification for the Finals?
I knew I needed to do at least four events and took the view that if I did well enough, that might be enough. We've been having a great battle in Open Horse in the South and we thought we were 'taking it to the wire' for qualification but it turns out our last event on the 22nd March won't count.
I see there are quite a few other regions with events after the 9th so just wondered if anyone else has been caught out as I have?
There is no mention of a cut off point on the website but the good news is, I shan't have to spend Easter in a traffic jam trying to get to Bedfordshire.
Congratulations to everyone who did have the necessary phsychic powers or friends in the know to get their points racked up on time and good luck at Keysoe.
