Lynsey, take a look at the Hillam Trailers extension for an Ifor 505 / 510, will take a 2 or 4 wheeler and tows fine...and much cheaper option than buying a box!

I have a 2 wheel carriage that goes in my 7.5t lorry. I keep the shafts on and tip the carriage so the shafts rest on the partition. I tie it to the partition tightly so it can't rattle or ping through the roof! There is then plenty of room for the pony to go on last.

Lynsey - there are many and varied ways of doing it.
- A big horse trailer can fit a horse and carriage.
- Many horseboxes can take a carriage - we fit two in our 7.5t lorry, 20' box, in our case in the living, one cross ways, one lengthways, plus space for 3 ponies behind.
- Some people extend a trailer towbar and carry the carriage sideways on that area
- Some people use a pickup with the carriage on the back and tow a horse trailer.
- A light trailer can carry the carriage behind a horsebox (750kg max or take your C1+E tow test)

..and so on. See InHarness magazine issue 2 www.inharness.co.uk for pictures of all sorts, or go to the nearest indoor driving event...

Hi there, I am relatively new to the world of driving and have a question regarding getting to competitions. What are the options for getting a 15.2hh horse and 2 wheeler transported? I am assuming a lorry which tows the cart on a trailer or can a cart fit in a lorry? At the moment I only have a trailer and was (obviously) looking for the cheapest way to get to drives etc

Many thanks for any advice!

Lynsey
