If you enjoy the indoor driving in the winter season as I do, you could also enjoy Scurry Driving in the summer! The Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Driving Group has places available for new members to join for the 2008 season. We compete at all the most prestigious shows, countrywide, during the summer months in our fast & furious, exciting sport. Our final, which you could be part of in 2008, is of course at Horse Of the Year Show. Hi, just to clarify, anyone can apply for membership with either Scurry group and both 'compete' competitively, not as demonstrations. Sadly the original organisation did split, but both are now well established as individuals organisations. The rules are slightly different but the essence of the sport remain the same. It is fantastic fun and I'd reccomendit to anyone! I've found it particularly gives a new lease of life to older ponies and they can continue having huge amounts of fun without the endurance required in FEI! Perhaps anyone interested could look at the show dates and see which groups shows suits them best??? happy Driving, Jemma | ||

Duncan, you may well be right and I'm no expert on these; however I've talked to both of them today and I understand there was a split and some rivalry and I think this forum might best keep clear of that... and just wish them all luck and by all means join one or other following either of the contact details below (looks exciting to me). | ||

Mike, I was under the impression that you had to join the SDA [Scurry Driving Assoc] and then if you were good enough you may be asked/invited to join the Osbourne RSDG. I was also under the impression, rightly or wrongly, that the SDA was a competitive group, whereas the Osbourne RSDG were mainly for entertainment of the crowd and not the outright competition, although they do race against each other at their 'demonstration' events, but I am happy to be corrected as both groups are great to watch. | ||

I've been asked to clarify that there are two distinct scurry groups: Osborne Scurry Group and Scurry Driving Association Both have posted information below and welcome horse driving trials drivers who might like to participate. | ||

All carriage driving enthusiasts are welcome to join the Scurry Driving Association which is the national body of the sport, endorsed by the BHDTA in 2001 after being run by the BHDTA since the 1960's. Members will find a warm and friendly association where competitors may compete throughout the country as well as occasionally abroad. We have a novice league and seperate novice awards at shows, excellent prize money for both open and novice drivers plus we put on BBQ's and get togethers throughout the season to ensure our members have a great time at our shows and events!!!
