Thames Valley Indoor Carriage Driving 2020/21

As I am sure everyone can appreciate this Seasons competition which will be unlike any that have gone before, with the Covid 19 pandemic we will be making changes we would prefer not to make.

First of all if you think you have Covid Symptoms (well documented) please cancel. Please think of others. We will look favourably on anyone in this predicament.

A. There will be no food or drink facilities, so please make your own arrangements.

B. There will be hand sanitizers around the site, please use them, in the case of using the BCA toilets before and after use.

C. On entering all contestants will be sent a “Bubble” form which you will be required to complete and return. This will include contact details of everyone who accompanies you to the event, registration details of vehicles and vaccination proofs of all equines you intend to bring (this includes companions). It would be helpful if this could be returned prior to the event. Please make sure your equine vaccinations are all up to date.

D. When parking please allow five metres distance from other vehicles. Solo cars please use the BCA visitors car park. No car parking in lorry park.

E. Contestants who arrive and compete together will be regarded as one unit or “bubble”, and need to social distance from stewards and other “bubbles”, (no sharing of grooms from other “bubbles”).

F. For all outside areas it is sufficient to social distance, (ideally 2 metres). For the indoor arena face protection (ie masks) will be mandatory for competitors and helpers, advisory for stewards. Masks will not be required whilst driving/grooming during warm up and competition.

G. Upon arrival at the Lorry Park you will be met/report to a steward to clarify your “bubble” form and equine passports are correct. You will then be issued with paperwork which includes obstacle diagrams and an A4 paper number. It is intended that you keep the same number for the duration of the season, for use in a suitable number holder or competitor bib. Or maybe laminate and taped to vehicle.

H. Walking the Obstacles will be done in relays. Using the Grouping system we use on the obstacle phase, group A will walk obstacle 1/3 while group B walk 2/4. These groups will swap over, then give way to groups C+D, and so on. We hope to give out diagrams before the event to aid this process, and we will also we reduce the number of gates to four (ie up to D) to aid those with fading grey cells. Do not touch the obstacles, designated persons will erect them, then sanitize. This also goes for the cones and dressage.

I. There will be no spectators allowed in the indoor arena, stewards and carriages only. However at discretion of steward we will permit one designated person for each competitor to video or photograph these phases, they need not be of the same bubble but must sanitize equipment if shared.

J. The traditional awards ceremony at the end of the day will not take place, results will be placed on the indoor website at the earliest convenience. Rosettes will be posted out. There will be no results published at all on paper(i.e. Precision and Paces and scores),
if we can set up Whatsapp or any other means on the internet we will, but this not guaranteed.

K. Please keep your area in the Lorry Park clean and tidy of all droppings and litter during the event and prior to leaving. It would be helpful if you used your own tools for this to avoid contamination for BCA staff. This is most important.

The above measures should not spoil your driving experience, but enable us to enjoy our sport in some kind of safety in these very odd times.

Martin.
