Fancy dress contest
Utterly fabulous fancy dress outfits - thank you to everyone who took part!

Results:
Best junior driver: Henry Hyde-Chambers' terrifying pirate, with trusty Best Mate, Claire
Best veteran: Beauty and the Beast came as Pat Cooper and her gorgeously crinolined Princess Sara
Best gentleman whip: Richard Spurgeon revealed his inner Cruella, with Hazel Cottrell's Dalmatian
Best lady whip: Kate Cooper's need for speed turned into the most beautifully detailed Top Gun, Julia Prentice as wingman

Thank you to all who entered the competition: it was a very difficult task for the discerning and conscientious judges.

We had three very convincing Cruellas, Mary Poppins and Bert being supercali...er..., Eeyore and Piglet, all beautifully executed and not an elf/Santa/snowman/reindeer in sight!

Thanks also to Donna and Samii Moncur for their gorgeous Christmas driving show placing and backstepper rosettes and to new sponsor of the World Cup commemorative rosettes, Esther Mander of VIP Pet Travel, 07990 977974, www.vippettravel.co.uk

A health and safety reminder:

Please park 'spare' cars, those of backsteppers, friends, spectators or not being used to tow a trailer, against the hedge by the road and not in the horsebox or shop parking area.

Please keep your carriage alongside your trailer or horsebox - that is, out of the way - while it is not in use.

Thank you!

Thank you for your entries for the Wix World Cup competition on Tuesday, 28 December, 2021.

This is a fun event in the main arena and is not a championship qualifier. All drivers must be current members of Indoor Carriage Driving-UK. This is a combined cones and obstacle challenge – no Precision & Paces test – and is run under obstacle rules: each person on the carriage must wear a helmet and body/back protector; each set of cones or obstacle is numbered and must be driven in sequence; each knockdown adds five penalties... lowest time + penalties wins.

Rosettes for first to sixth places will be awarded according to class and there are lovely backstepper rosettes for every turnout, kindly sponsored by Donna and Samii Moncur, as well as special World Cup rosettes for all, kindly sponsored by VIP Pet Travel.

Government advice is to wear a mask or face covering so please do so while ‘indoors’ and watching or walking the course, and remain socially distanced. Please stay at var/www if you are feeling unwell or have any symptoms of Covid.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each competitor walks the course with their backstepper to decide their best routes and then, in their group, drives the course three times in turn with the others in their group (in the same way we drive the obstacles normally).

Your first round will be timed and scored but is a practice round only and does not count in the final score. The score is your time plus any penalties for errors of course, knock-downs, etc., according to the normal rules for driving obstacles. The lower score of your second and third rounds counts in the competition.

After your first two rounds, please return to the warm-up arena.

FANCY DRESS COMPETITION
The theme is “films”. Fancy dress is optional. Prizes!

YOU CAN HELP...
If you can come early (8:15-8:30) and help us build the course, we'd greatly appreciate it - and later we'll need help to dismantle it at the end of the day, too!

Spectators are very welcome: please wear a face-covering and follow social distancing rules. The café area is open for spectators and Emma’s Tasty Tucker Trailer will be on site. The animal feed cash and carry will be open.

Please call or text me if you have any queries - 07710 467774

As ever, please check in when you arrive and collect your number bib (or bring your own) and check your group time - and be aware that withdrawals may make your time earlier. Please be ready in/near the warm-up arena and at least ten minutes early. Thank you!
