The format used is tried and tested and it works well, at this time there is no question of changing the way events are run. Qualifying events must run to IHDT rules otherwise such events will be removed from the points league by the IHDT UK.
As for the Juniors, lets encourage them, for they are the future of our sport. They put the excitement back, come and watch them at Keysoe, but be aware, your heart will be in your mouth most of the time, and your fingers crossed. The sand will certainly fly will all 21 juniors are in the arena.

We have tried Martyn's version in the Lincolnshire area, when it was part of a Jolly Folly and run by the MDTG. As a format it presents a change and challenge,Poacher HC have used the format outdoors and it works well, but don't bring it into the IHDT program. We have a great format already so why change it.

In any case why on earth do we want to "quell enthusiasm"

Martyn if what you advocate is as difficult to understand as whatever it is you have just written I suggest we leave everything as it is now...........because it works!

Now the season is reaching its climax is it now the time to think about the future competition format. Having seen the team competition at the SE Carriage Fair which appeared to reflect the World Cup format.
I have to say I think the format should change to that for the obstacle/cone phase.
My suggestion is to retain the P&P phase as this helps to demonstrate the whip has control. We then would move on to the combined cone/obstacle phase with one obstacle. This would be driven twice with the class rotating ie 1st competitor drives second drives to end of class then start again. So as to quell the Junior/Novice enthusisam we could retain an optimum time for them.
What do you think?
