Thanks very much to everyone who took part and, especially, helped.

How did people think it went? Should we do it again [next year] - what would improve it?

For a map of what we drove, click here. Our arena is about 55 x 21m, the pic is more or less to scale.

We set the cones at 160cm, obstacles with 3m gaps. People had 1 practice then two real goes, best real run counting. Marathon rules, i.e. groom can help and slide the vehicle throughout.

We ran groups of 4/5, so people had a rest but concentrated their three goes into about half an hour. At that rate about 8-10 competitors per hour, + walking.

The FEI Worldcup rules are here together with their proposed 2009 changes in red. They set the cones wider, 180cm at least, - we wanted to keep the speed down a little for this first try at least.

Ideas? Any detail of the Keysoe version?

The Indoor vans have just the right number of knockdown balls for the cones OR obstacles - we needed both. Thanks to Chris and Nat for buying onions for us to use. The onions were fine except suffered when run over.

Wix World Cup

We are planning to run everyone through in small groups, like we do for classes in normal events, to minimise hanging around for the ponies.

There will be a course-building session as soon as we can get in the arena and course walking between 2:10-ish and 2:30pm. There may be a second short course-walk after group 2 for the later competitors, if necessary.

Everyone's times will be recorded and we'll see who are the champs - classes still to be discussed! (This is just for fun!) 5 pens per knockdown.

There will be four groups:

2:30 approx
A) Grace Smith
Nadia Hughes
Katie Bell (1)

3:05 approx
B) Charlotte Snow
Jill Wood
Fiona Gordon-Clarke
Chris Smith

4 pm approx
C) Janet Sycamore
Tabitha King
Mark Bell
Clare Iveagh

4:45 approx
D) Fiona Powell
Ann Bishop
Amie Snow
Katie Bell (2)

5:30 finish would be good!

This is not necessarily the definitive order but I hope it's close, if everyone turns up. Please keep checking this forum and thread in case there are changes.

We estimate between 3 and 5 minutes per round.

Please bring cash on the day - £15 for 3 rounds per competitor.

The cafe is planned to be open so come hungry! Please tell your friends to come and watch.

Please telephone me if you can't come asap as this will change the times.

Please expect to pay £15 if you cancel or withdraw after 5 pm, Thursday, 22 Jan.

Thanks!
Please call me if you'd like to help?

There will be a "fun" World Cup style event open to singles, pairs and tandems at Wix EC, from 2pm on Saturday, 24 January.

Drivers must be members of the IHDTC. Normal rules on dress, carriages, track width, grooms, etc. apply.

Course: a cones course combined with two obstacles in the main arena.

Format: three goes for £15. First go is your practice round, two goes competitively. Fastest time with fewest knockdown penalties wins. (It is perfectly OK to come along for some fun and just trot round at your own speed...) Everyone is welcome. Classes will depend on the entries.

Note that we do not have the use of the warm-up arena.

Please tell your friends! We want lots of spectators and plan to have the cafe open.

Helpers also wanted - please contact me if you'd like to enter, help or to watch - 01473 735732
